Analysis: The Pasqual Case
Fidelio Belems courageous termination of the fugitive robot Pasqual, and the tragic death of Kent Whitman, bring into sharp relief the dangers of rogue robots and the necessity of violent force in their apprehension. A closer look at the sequence of events demonstrates not only the calculating disregard for human life evinced by the robot Pasqual, but the expert actions of Fidelio Belem, who saved the lives of everyone in the vicinity.
Belem first made visual contact with Pasqual in the 800 block of K Street Northwest. Proceeding east from the three-way intersection of 9th, K, and New York Avenue, Belem saw the robot moving towards him at a distance of less than one hundred yards.

Noting the presence of a bystander, Kent Whitman, he elected not to initiate recovery at that time due to the potential for violent response on the part of Pasqual. The robot -- doubtless tipped off to Belems identity by agents of BIOS, whose Emancipatory ideology unfortunately extends to an utter disregard for human life -- initiated an exchange of gunfire in which Whitman was killed. Pasqual subsequently fled towards the front door of a K Street business.
Observing this brutal evidence of the robots instability, Belem drew his own weapon, positioned himself for optimal angle of fire on the shop doorway, and terminated the robot before it could gain entrance. Our preliminary forensic analysis indicates that four of his eight shots hit Pasqual, an astonishing record against a moving target returning fire. More importantly, no bystanders were wounded by Belems return fire; only the doorway and shop window suffered minor damage.

Belems choices here were exemplary in their prudence and courage. While at first it may seem that his action, shooting in the direction of the store, endangered the lives of everyone inside, consider that in fact Pasqual had made clear his intention to murder as many humans as he could before being brought to justice by Rogue Retrieval. Consider too that Fidelio Belem is a certified Marksman in a wide range of firearms. Lastly, imagine the result if Belem had not acted has he did: an enraged fugitive robot charging in the door of a thriving business, indiscriminately slaughtering whomever it found there. Only the quick thinking and fine shooting of Fidelio Belem prevented this impending tragedy, and we here at Rogue Retrieval are certain that the store owners would agree that the minimal damage inflicted on their property was a small price to pay for their lives.
